Request for Nominations
Wow, it’s time again for the Pequea PTO elections. Pequea Elementary is very fortunate to have great parents who are willing to volunteer their time and talents to our school. Being an officer of the PTO is another opportunity to show your support and provide leadership. Our current Vice President and Secretary will not be returning due to the fact that the Secretary has fulfilled her term and the Vice President would like to take on the Chair Position for Hospitality. So please think about stepping up to the plate and join our fun group. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to get involved. It is a proven fact that children do better in school when their parents are involved. The success of our organization depends on YOU! So, here is your chance to help your children, their teachers and our school.
We are now accepting nominations for next year’s PTO officers. To nominate yourself or someone you feel would be interested, please submit in writing the Name of the Nominee, the office and a phone number to the Pequea Elementary School Office (through your child’s teacher) no later than May 5, 2011.
Positions open for the 2011/2012 school year are:
Vice President (2 year term):
Work closely with all officers, chair and co-chair, and principal, attend all PTO general and planning meetings, attend bi-monthly superintendent meetings if President is unavailable, closely work with and oversee half of the PTO committees, communicate mainly through email, help prepare PTO monthly Blog Newsletter and write the opening every other month, help organize and plan PTO events, help recruit more volunteers when needed, plan events if a chairperson is unavailable, consider new suggestions/ideas, assist President where needed.
Average Time Commitment: 1-6 hours per week
Secretary (2 year term):
Take minutes at monthly PTO meetings, type up and forward to Pres/Vice-Pres/Principal for approval before posting to Pequea blog, update committee binders at the beginning of the school year, update PTO information case (outside office) help with preparation for Meet the Teacher Night. Assist with PTO Committees/PTO Events as needed.
Average Time Commitment: 2 hours per month
Elections will be held at our May 12, 2011 PTO meeting in the Pequea’s Library at 7:00 p.m. All nominees must be present in order to be elected. Nominations can be accepted from the floor during that meeting and added to the ballot. At the May PTO Meeting there will also be the opportunity to volunteer for any committee chairperson or co-chairperson positions that are open; however many other volunteer opportunities are available as well. So, please come to the next meeting or to any of our upcoming events to see what we are all about, to meet with the nominees and to get involved. We would love to fill you in on all off the awesome stuff we do for the students, staff and school.
