March 9 through March 13 Week-At-A-Glance

Pequea Families,

Hopefully, this is our last winter storm for the school year. Monday, March 9 will now be a cycle day 5. Since school was closed today and Friday, we will culminate our Read Across America spirit week with Greenie Grinch Day and/or Crazy Hat Day tomorrow, Monday, March 9. Students are encouraged to wear green like the Grinch in the book the How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and/or they can wear a crazy hat like the cat from the book The Cat in the Hat.

If you have time today, you can complete Dr. Leichliter’s survey for Penn Manor families. This weekend is also the final weekend for our high school musical, The Sound of Music.

Make sure you make the change on your calendars that school is now in session on Thursday, April 2 due to today’s closing. Don’t forget to set your clocks one hour forward on Saturday night, March 7, as we “spring ahead” for daylight savings. You don’t want to be late for the Penn Manor ReadAThon in the high school east gym from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 8.

Don’t forget our next PTO meeting is on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 pm!

Snow Day Math Lesson on Pi

Did you know that next Saturday, March 14 is Pi Day? Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. This year’s Pi Day is extra special because the first five numbers are the date on Saturday… 3.1415!

Pi (π) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Pi is a constant number, meaning that for all circles of any size, Pi will be the same.

The diameter of a circle is the distance from edge to edge, measuring straight through the center. The circumference of a circle is the distance around.

Have a “snowriffic” Thursday, a fantastic Friday, and a wonderful weekend!
