Highlights

2024 Pequea Art & Music Showcase

We were thrilled to share the excitement and talent that filled the air at our recent Art & Music Showcase. It was an evening where creativity took center stage, and our students dazzled us with their incredible talents.

One of the highlights of the evening was seeing our students step into the spotlight and showcase their artwork. Every piece was a reflection of their unique perspectives and creative visions. From colorful abstracts to intricate sketches, each artwork told a story and captured the imagination.

But the creativity didn't stop there. Our talented musicians also took the stage, captivating the audience with their melodies and rhythms.

What made the evening even more special was the sense of community that permeated the event. Families mingled, sharing in the joy and pride of seeing their children's accomplishments.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Hamer and Mrs. Steffy who made this event possible.

As we reflect on the success of the Art & Music Showcase, we're reminded of the importance of nurturing creativity and fostering a love for the arts in our school community. It's events like these that remind us of the boundless potential that lies within each and every one of our students.

Google Visits Pequea!

Google for Education is committed to providing teachers with the tools and resources they need to be successful in the classroom. One of the best ways to do this is to hear directly from teachers and students about their experiences using Google products and features.

And they did just that!  A Google Team traveling from India visited Pequea to learn more!

Mrs. Judy Keller, Penn Manor Technology Training Consultant has been working with several teachers and their students on piloting a Google Read Along product.  The Google team was able to observe and see students first-hand using it and students were able to share their thoughts, likes and dislikes.  This was an incredible opportunity for our students to make positive changes for Google users worldwide!

School Board Presentation

On Monday, October 23rd, several of our 6th grade students presented our Pequea School-Wide House System to the Penn Manor School Board.

They did an incredible job in preparing the presentation and delivering it!

Pequea Elementary takes every opportunity to encourage and promote leadership qualities within all Pequea students.  We were honored that our leadership team gave us the opportunity for our sixth graders to showcase their leadership qualities for our School Board and community.

Kudos to Quentin A., Chase B., Declan F., Jordan F., Haylee F., Parker K., Cora M., and Riley T.!!

Grade 5 Goes Canoeing

Thanks to the Susquehanna National Heritage Area for hosting our Pequea 5th graders and gave them the opportunity to participate in Canoemobile.

Canoemobile is a “floating classroom” that brings students out on local waterways in a 10-person canoes to learn about science, history, geography, and culture. You can learn more about Canoemobile HERE.

It was a great experience for all!

Additionally, we were fortunate to have great community sponsors willing to celebrate our students’ hard work too! A huge thank you to our sponsors:

Our winners were randomly selected using an electronic wheel with all 112 students, who completed their packets, included.  Students were able to watch a video to see who won.

Congratulations to all of our winners!

Additionally, as promised, all students who completed the summer learning packets will be invited to a special assembly featuring the Maryland Science Center on Friday, October 6, 2023!

Congratulations to all of our summer learners! We are proud of you!

2023 - 2024 Pequea Family Welcome Packet (1).pdf

Welcome to the 2023-2024 Year!

We had a great first day at Pequea Elementary!  With the new year we welcomed 45 Kindergarteners and 21 new students in grades 1-6.  We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new families. Lastly, welcome back to all of our returning families.  We are happy you are a part of Pequea!

Today we had the opportunity to review our building expectations and prosocial behaviors to ensure a successful year.  It is our goal to partner with our families and work collaboratively to ensure each and every individual student grows academically, socially, and emotionally. This aligns with our Penn Manor mission statement: The Penn Manor community will work collaboratively to help students define and achieve their academic and life goals.

Please take a moment to review our Family Welcome Packet and explore our elementary handbook, Pequea House System, and our Pequea Standards of Excellence.

We look forward to a great year!
